Created as a spot illustration to accompany Bruce Feiler’s Article “A Father’s Prayer for His Daughters”. The article—about taking life slow, delighting in the journey, and making friends along the way—refers to a french aristocratic tradition of taking a walk with a turtle as a metaphor for slowing down and enjoying life. I illustrated this idea in a more whimsical and imaginative way, showing the turtle larger than the child, and keeping the colors bright and vivid, to give a feeling of child-like wonder and fantasy.
